About Isabella and how it all began
My name is Isabella, I am a doctor, and a mother of two children.
Hiking, especially long-distance hiking, is my great passion. When hiking the North-South trail in the Austrian mountains in 2020, I had the idea to organise a peace march starting from Vienna. Peace and non-violence have always been a special concern of mine.
But how do you get started? How do you become a big peace movement?
At the end of October 2021, I decided to start with a solo hike for peace in Malta - I put a self-made sign on my backpack, and off I went!
More hikes followed, and more and more people showed up.
I want to thank everyone who supports this movement and hope to meet you at the next Hike for Peace!
Sylvia
My name is Sylvia, and I am the proud mother of a daughter.
I’m working for a very popular and long-established children’s magazine in Sales/Marketing for Austria, and I am a certified social worker.
Since I am a very sociable person, it is always nice and exciting to meet new people and to find out which topics move them in their lives and what kind of stories they have to tell.
“Not all of us can do great things.
But we can do small things with great love.”
~ Mother Teresa ~
Maria
My name is Maria, and I’m the secretary-deputy for hiking for peace.
Before I retired, I worked as a special education teacher. I have two adult children and a large circle of family and friends. Hiking is one of my passions.
I joined the association because peace starts for me within a small circles- primarily within myself. It is my responsibility to contribute to peaceful coexistence and to embody and pass on values such as respect and tolerance within my family and circle of friends.
The hiking for peace association combines my passion for hiking with the desire for passing on these values and also helps to convey and spread them to an even larger circle.
Markus
I am Markus, and I work as a beer brewer.
In the association I lead the hikes and also serve as a treasurer.
It is important to me to advocate for peaceful coexistence.
